ALTON “TUNIE” PARRIS, 83, of Piedmont, passed away on Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at his residence. Born in Choccolocco, he was a heavy equipment operator and member of Piedmont Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents: Mark , Sr. and Beulah Hulsey Parris; two brothers: Mark Jr. and Duke Parris; three sisters: Clara Faye Burns, Dorothy Smith and Joy Coppock; and two granddaughters: Jessie Ford and Jessica Parris. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Arlis Grimes Parris; son: Steven David (Tammy) Parris; daughter: Debra (Philip) Burgess; sister: Sybil Bonner; 4 grandchildren: Wayne Ford, Josh (Andi) Parris, Jonathan Ford and Jamie (Jessica) Parris; and 4 great grandchildren: Mason Yates, Hunter and Hayden Parris, and Marlee Parris. Visitation will be Thursday, June 29 from 6-8 PM at Dansby Heritage Chapel with a graveside service on Friday, June 30, at 11 AM from Grimes Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Josh, Jamie and Clint Parris, Jonathan Ford, Mark Headrick, Boyd Coppock, Hunter Parris, Mason Yates, and Wayne Ford. The family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the American Heart or American Lung Association. Mr. Parris was one who never met a stranger, was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be greatly missed. Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Parris Family.
