McELWEE, ANNIE MAE CONNER - "Maw-Maw" went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Piedmont Health Care. Maw-Maw, 85, born in Calhoun County, was a member of Northside Bapitist Church and retired from Piedmont Hospital. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jackson Conner; granddaughter: Amanda Gray; great grandchild: Christian Conner; and half brother, Tommy LaPier. She is survived by five daughters: Pat Smith of Piedmont, Wanda (Bob) Robertson of Piedmont, Elaine (Leon) McClure of Atlanta, GA, Faye (Otto) Broxton of Niceville, FL, and Joan (Harry) Bevil of Milledgeville, GA; three sons: Darrell Conner of iedmont, Douglas (Theresa) Conner of Saks, and Jackie (Cathy) Conner of Brighton, TN; half brother, Ronnie LaPier; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Visitation was held Monday, April 22 at Dansby Heritage Chapel from 5-6 p.m. with the funeral at 6 p.m. Interment was Tuesday, April 23 at 9 a.m. in Highland Cemetery. The Rev. Matt Turner, Rev. Jerry Pike, and Rev. Danny English officiated. Pallbearers were Dwain Weathington, Stephen Smith, Andy Conner, Jacob Smith, Alan Smith, Jack Conner, Jr., and Chuck Armitage. A special thanks to her caregivers who were her children and grandchildren. Dansby Heritage Chapel was honored to serve the Conner-McElwee family.
