Betty Jo McFry

BETTY JO ROLAND MCFRY, 87, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 27, 2022.  She was born November 16, 1934 in Ragland, AL to Henry and Mamie Martin.  In 1950, at the age of 16, she married Kenneth Roland and moved to Piedmont.  Later, she married Larry McFry.  She was preceded in death by her parents and both husbands.

Others preceding her in death were granddaughter; Amanda Nicholson and great-granddaughter LaKeisha Canter; and siblings:  John Martin, James Leon "Buddy" Martin, Bobby Martin, Frances Wood, Sally Kay and Rosella White.

She spent most of her time babysitting all her grandchildren and other little ones that she loved so dearly.  She loved working in her garden, canning, cooking, listening to gospel music, and especially playing UNO with her grandchildren.  She touched everyone that met her and offered her home and meals to everyone.

Survivors include her three children:  Sheila Nicholson of Piedmont, Kay (Glenn) McMahan of Piedmont, and Twila (David) Chandler of Santa Rosa Beach, FL; three grandchildren; Melanie Phillips, Stephanie McMahan Jenkins; and Danielle Chandler; three great grandchildren:  Kenneth Hudgins, Payton McFry and Caitlin Bates Pope; two great-great-grandchildren: Cody McMurray and Meghan Pope; sister: Shirley (Gene) Hallman of Pell City, AL; and several nieces and nephews.

The Funeral Service will be Friday, July 1st, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Dansby Heritage Chapel with Pastor Bruce Copeland officiating and Randy Randolph giving the Eulogy.  Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the start of the service.  Burial will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Ragland, AL.  Pallbearers will be family and friends.

The family would like to thank Hospice and a special thank you to Hanna, Dale, Cassie and Rodney for taking such great care of her.
