Brenda Smith

Mrs. Brenda “Joyce” Smith of Pleasant Gap, Alabama went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 18, 2021. She was born September 2, 1955 in Dallas, Georgia and was a graduate of Paulding County High School.  She was a member of Rock Run Baptist Church.  She never went a day in this earthly life without telling her family that she loved them.  During her time here on earth, she cared for countless others as a nurse.

Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ora Gurley, and her sisters, Mary Ann Martin and Melba Parson.

She was a loving and devoted wife and mother and is survived by her husband of 46 years, Sammy Smith, her son, Shad Smith and his wife Carrie, her daughter, Crystal Smith, two grandchildren, Jonah Smith and Anna Smith, her sister, Janice Ayers, and three brothers, Jerry Gurley, Charles Gurley, and James “Hop” Gurley.

Funeral Service will be Monday, November 22, 2021 at 2 PM (CT)  from Rock Run Baptist Church with Revs. Lewis Conaway, Joel Smith and Shad Smith  officiating. Visitation will be from 1 PM (CT)  until funeral time at the church.  Burial will be in Pleasant Gap Cemetery.
