Carolyn Ponder

August 8, 1936 — February 14, 2017

Carolyn Sue Morgan Ponder, born August 8, 1936 and passed away on February 14, 2017, at home surrounded by family after a hard fought battle with ovarian cancer.                                                   Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Hugh Ponder; son: Steve Ponder; granddaughter: Michelle Ponder Adams, all of Piedmont; grandson: Chris Ponder (Becky) of Ten Mile, TN; great grandchildren: Caleb Adams, Kerry Sueann Ponder, Christopher  Jackson “CJ” Ponder; brothers: Herschel Morgan (Christine), Sam Morgan (Dodie); sisters: Nell Ponder, Vivian Brown (Johnny Mack), Gail Pollard (Steve); sisters in law: Lee Morgan, Marie Morgan, and Teen Morgan; several nieces and nephews.                                                                                                                                                                She was preceded in death by her parents: Rollie and Beatrice Borden Morgan; and brothers: Kenneth Morgan, Jerry Morgan, and Marshall Morgan.
Graveside service will be at Nances Creek Cemetery Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 3:00 pm with Revs. Floyd Willis and John Cole officiating.  Pallbearers will be nephews.                                                                Mrs. Ponder was a member of the Nances Creek CH Church.  She retired from nursing after 42 years in   the profession.  The family extends a special thank you to Dr. Kerri Bevis and her staff at UAB.  Also, a special thank you for your compassionate care to Heather Bobbitt and Casey Roberts of Alacare Home Health and Hospice.  The care and dedication you all gave will not be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nances Creek CH Church, 15539 AL Hwy 9, Piedmont, AL 36272 or The Lauren Crandall Brown Ovarian Cancer Foundation, PO Box 26791, Birmingham, AL 35260.              Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Ponder Family.
