Memorial Services for Mr. Elza Lanier Roberts, 85, of Anniston will be Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. from First Baptist Church of Piedmont with Rev. Michael Ingram officiating. As per his request, he was cremated. Born in Centre, AL on December 27, 1928 to Elza Albert and Venice Viola Law Roberts, he joined the US Air Force at the age of 16 and retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. He then began a career as a construction superintendent. He was a Christian, member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Piedmont and a member of the local VFW. He passed away Saturday, September 20, 2014 at RMC Anniston. He is survived by his son: Rodney Roberts of Wedowee; daughter: Arlene Staehly of Piedmont; brother: Wally (JoAnn) Roberts of Albany, GA; life partner: Brenda Cooper of Anniston: grandchildren: Melissa Cantrell, John ( Kristal) Staehly, Justin Roberts, and Tricia Roberts; great grandchildren: Samantha Cantrell, Jayce Staehly, Shanna Lauricella, Shanya Cantrell, and Sabrina Cowart; and extended family: Airiana Howard and Jess Bain. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters: Vera Morgan, Arlene Roberts, and Emma Irvin; and brothers: E.A. Roberts, and Roy Roberts.
