Funeral Service for Mrs. Esther Ginn Batey, 94 of Piedmont, will be Tuesday, January 24, 2017 at 11:30 AM from Dansby Heritage Chapel with visitation from 10:30 - 11:30 AM. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery. Rev. Gary Black will officiate. The family requests no flowers but memorials to Cancer Research or your favorite charity.
Mrs. Batey, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Attalla Health Care after a brief illness. Born in Anniston, AL to Henry Wesley and Alberta Borden Ginn, she was an LPN, retired from Piedmont Hospital. She was very proud of the fact that she earned her LPN status. Mrs. Batey was a member of Dailey Street Baptist Church, member of the Rebecca Lodge, and loved to organize neighborhood clubs. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hugh Lee Batey; and sisters, Clara and Beatrice. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Jerry Lee (Betty) Batey of Sumter, SC, Dennis Hugh (Peggy) Batey of Biloxi, MS, Tina (Robert) Davis of Piedmont, Terry Wayne (Paula) Batey of Piedmont, and Lynnis Eric (Cindy) Batey of Hokes Bluff; brother: Henry Boyce (Rose) Ginn of Anniston; grandchildren: Eric, Troy, Maya, Kurt, Pamela, Denise, Paul, Kenneth, Zachary, Jared, Hugh, Brandon, Erica and LeWayne; and numerous great grandchildren.
