Gladys Louise Wallace (Maw), 97, of Piedmont, AL., passed away Feb. 20, 2024 at Piedmont Health Care Facility. Born May 11, 1926 to Edward B. Heard and Era Annie Jones in Cedartown, GA. She dearly loved her Granny Heard who raised her after her mother died.
She was a lifelong faithful member of the Church of Christ at Piedmont. She lived her life serving others, always willing to help those in need. She loved to cook for all that came over, especially the kids. She was a loving homemaker who loved to sing her homemade songs, gospel songs, and work in the garden. She loved to quilt and crochet. She prayed every night, individually mentioning those in need and those special to her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, EL Wallace (Tom); children: Lenora, Mandy, and Brandy; brother, Zedi; sister, Eris; grandson, Tim Word; and son-in-law Terry Word.
Survived by daughter Eleanor Word; grandchildren: Kevin Word and Dana Swann; great-grandchildren: Stephen Word, Chris Word, Heather Martin (CC), Hayden Berrey (Codi), David Cronan, Kimberly Martin (Kevin), and Johnathon Cronan (Bailey); twelve great-great grandchildren: Karisma, Alexis, Camille, Madison, Charles, Phoenix, Finley, Dakota, Cheyenne, Aurora, Walker, and Dixie; and numerous nieces and nephews that she cared for as children.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with John Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends at Dansby Heritage Chapel from 1:00- 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charles Wallace, Bruce Wallace, David Cronan, Johnathon Cronan, Stephen Word, and Chris Word. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bodie Smart, David Wallace and Jeremy Wallace.
