Helen Jane Godby, 84, passed away Monday, December 19th, 2022, at Piedmont Nursing Home.  Funeral Services will be held at Piedmont First Baptist Church at 1:00 pm on December 22nd, 2022 with Brother Michael Ingram officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.

The pallbearers will be David Headrick, Michael Headrick, Brandon Headrick, Johnny Burge, Dusty Bryan and Toby Romine.

Honorary pallbearer will be Doug Fortenberry.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband Howard Godby; her parents Ellis J and Jewell Watts; great-great grandson Bentley Headrick; brother Ellis J Watts and son-in-law Chris “Cosmo” Headrick.

Helen was born and raised in Piedmont where she grew up and worked as a nurse.  She had her two beautiful children Jeff Sims and Sharon Headrick.  She loved making homemade crafts and loved enjoyed homemade books. 

She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she loved to sing in the choir.  She enjoyed spending time at church and with her church family.

She was a huge Alabama fan and enjoyed watching the Crimson Tide play.

Helen is survived by her children:  Jeff Sims and Sharon Headrick; her grandchildren:  Jennifer McFry (Lamar), Kristy Burge (Lee), Christopher Headrick (Melanie) and David Headrick (Leila); her great-grandchildren:  Kaitlyn Coppock, Justin Hackney, Moriah Chandler, Johnny Burge, Brandon Headrick, Caleb Headrick, Leia Headrick and Charleston Bragg and her great-great-grandchildren Jusiah Hackney, Greycen Hackney, Caden Hackeny and Dallis Burge.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 11:00 am until the start of the service.

Dansby Heritage Chapel is honored to serve the Godby family.
