Funeral services for JAMES STANLEY PRITCHETT, 76, of Jacksonville, AL, who passed suddenly at his residence on Saturday, July 6, 2024, will be held Thursday, July 11, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. from Dansby Heritage Chapel, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until funeral time. He will be buried in Seven Springs Cemetery. Stan was born in Calhoun County to James and Faye Frances Clements Pritchett.
He married the love of his life, Judy Angel, in 1966 and had just celebrated 58 years of marriage July 3rd. He still owned the 1962 Chevrolet that they dated in and would drive around the grandchildren in it for fun when they were youngsters. His grandchildren will tell you that Papa always had “THE BEST” Easter Egg Hunts, and they always had great adventures with him.
Stan began his working career as a lineman in 1967 with Southern Bell/AT&T Systems. He retired in 2009 with 38 years, having taken five years away to assume ownership of Stan Pritchett’s Expressions, a family-owned clothing business in Jacksonville. Not one to sit idle at home, he worked for Walgreens in Jacksonville a couple of years. He was then employed by the City of Jacksonville with the Senior Center as a driver, as well as delivering meals daily for seniors. In the 1990s, he served on the Anniston Opportunity Center Board and also worked as a Jacksonville EMT in the 1970s. Stan was a licensed minister and member of the Seven Springs Cemetery Board. He was a longtime member of Faith Temple, and his hobbies included a love for motorcycles, collecting antiques, going to auctions, and farm life with cattle, horses, and tractors. He never met a stranger and always left an impression.
He is preceded in death by his father: James Buster Pritchett; and brother: John Anthony Pritchett.
He is survived by his wife: Judy Angel Pritchett; son: James Steven Pritchett; daughters: Lana P. (Sam) Copeland and Pamela P. Willis; former daughter in law: Linda Pritchett; Mother: Faye Clements Pritchett Duncan; Sister: Marilyn P (Tommy) Fielder; grandchildren: James Bradley Pritchett, Lindsey Nicole Pritchett, Wesley Brown Copeland, Alyse Copeland (Skyler) Bacon, Carol-Anne Copeland Grimes, and Mitchell Allen Willis; great grandchildren: Leonidas Chase Bacon, Samson Reese Bacon, and Aurora Laurelle Grimes; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
