Jerry Steven Dansby, one of eight children born in Eufaula, AL to Odis and Mildred Anderson Dansby, passed away on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at his residence. He had just celebrated his 68th birthday. Jerry was one that had a natural sense of humor and usually had the last word. He loved playing the guitar, watching the cows, enjoying his ducks and his rooster, Smokie. He had spoiled his little dachshund, Sam, and loved to cuddle with him and watch old westerns and was an avid Alabama fan. With Jerry, you got what you saw, no pretense, just a great friend. He was living his dream by being on a farm and owning a funeral business, both of which he loved immensely. Jerry, my soul mate, lover, best friend, protector and provider made his way home to meet loved ones waiting for him: his parents; son: Jeffery Dansby; and in laws: J. C. and Mary Long. But most of all he wanted to see Jesus. He is survived by his wife: Lynette Long Barker Dansby; daughter: Jennifer Lynn Dansby; son: Chanin (Mandy) Barker; brothers: Johnny (Beth) Dansby, Ray Dansby, Larry (Dianne) Dansby; sisters: Mary Lee, Diner (Rhett) Trousdale, Linda (Freddy) Holland, and Glenda Merritt; granddaughters: McKenzie Grace Barker, and Audumn Kristeen Dansby; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Piedmont from Dansby Heritage Chapel on Monday, October 11 at 7:00 p.m. with Rev. David Cox and Rev. Gary Black officiating. A service for his family was held at Eufaula Church of God on Tuesday, October 12 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Chris Sowell officiating. Burial was in Long Memorial Gardens in Quitman, MS. We thank everyone for their words of encouragement, prayers, texts, food, and support during this time.
