JUDY ANN STEPPS WINKLES, 77, of Piedmont, made her earthly transition to her forever home on Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Atrium Floyd Health Center in Rome, GA, with her family by her side. She was one of five children born in Floyd County, GA to David Ernest and Zella Mae Pruitt Stepps. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister: Shelby Eichert.
Mrs. Winkles, affectionately known by everyone as “Nanny”, was an excellent seamstress providing service for many in need of her expertise. She lived in Piedmont 45+ years and was of the Baptist Faith. She was a loving, caring wife, and mother, who will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband: Kenneth James Winkles; daughter: Lou (Kevin) Fagan; sons: Phillip Winkles, and Michael (Stacey) Winkles; brother: Kenneth (Arlene) Stepps; and sisters: Marie Wright and Wilma Kay (Marshall) Plants; 12 grandchildren: Brooke(Colby Acker) McFry, Kyle Fagan, Kayla (Chase) Rampy, Luke (Meghan) Bobbitt, Brianna (Paul Hicks) Winkles, Avery (Harrison) Cheatwood, Chase Bobbitt, Matthew McGee, Kristian (Cody) Quinn, Faythe Winkles, and Dalton Winkles; and six great grandchildren: Brylee Acker, Cade Rampy, Lincoln Bobbitt, Lainey Bobbitt, Caylyn Winkles, and LJ Handy.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Carlos Farmer officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Piedmont Rescue Squad, PO Box 333, Piedmont, AL 36272. Burial will be in Piedmont Memory Garden. Pallbearers are Mathew McGee, Dalton Winkles, Brylee Acker, Kyle Fagan, Chase Rampy, Cody Quin, Colby Acker and Paul Hicks.
