Lou Witsell

Mrs. Lou Ella Witsell, 88, of Piedmont, AL passed away at Gadsden Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.  She was one of seven children born in Marksville, LA to Ellis Joseph and Hilda Irene Thomas Reynaud.  She was a Registered Nurse, a loving wife and mother, who loved to travel with her husband to visit family, friends, and the beach.  She was a spontaneous person who was fun-loving, never met a stranger and was very focused on her family and children. She was a devoted member of St. Joachim Catholic Church since 1994.  She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings:  Hilda Vallete and husband, Leo; E.J. Reynaud, Jr.; Sue Bueche and husband, Kenton; and brother in law, Marion Simpson.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Witsell of Piedmont; Tom Witsell of Dallas, GA; Margie (Bruce) Byington of Colorado Springs, CO; Larry (Gina) Witsell of Waco, TX; Anne (Jerald) Knight of Medford, MA; Cathy (Gonzalo) Villalobos of Gainesville, GA; Bob (Pam) Witsell of Rome, GA; Don (Erica) Witsell of Candler, NC; sister in law: Mamie Reynaud; sisters: Shirley Simpson, Gail (George) Rhea and Carol (Jim) Largent;  17 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019 from 11- 12 noon at St. Joachim Catholic Church with the funeral mass at 12 noon and Father James Handerhand officiating. Entombment will be in Piedmont Memory Garden. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to The Covenant House, 611 North Rampart St., New Orleans, LA 70112.
