Maria Teresa Cavigioli Gibson was born on Monday, October 24, 1927 in Verdun, France to Giacomo and Maria Emelia Pagani Cavigioli . She was one of four children. Her brother, Remo Cavigioli lived in Massachuetts and raised two sons: Christopher and Mark; sister, Suzanne Cavigioli lives in Verdun, France and Odette Savarino lives in Nice, France. Her parents and her brother preceded her in death. She spoke of the trying times during the war when they had little to eat and would hear shots in the night sometimes even passing close to the place they were. She met and married Jesse Gibson, an American soldier, while he was serving in the US Army. Coming to America was a huge culture change for her, but she quickly became accustomed to the life of America and was very proud to become a legal US citizen, while retaining her citizenship in France. In France, she was a telephone operator and in York, she worked in the art department of McGregor Printing for 26 years. She and Jesse had one daughter, Betty Catherine Parker of Lebanon, MO, who preceded her in death on July 21, 2018. She is survived by two grandsons: Chad Langston of Warner Robbins, GA and Sean Parker of Lebanon, MO; and son in law: Richard Parker of Lebanon, MO. Maria came to live in Piedmont, AL with Jerry and Lynette Dansby in January of 2018 and called this her little paradise. She enjoyed sitting on the porch watching the wildlife and 'listening' to the quiet. A funeral mass will be held on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at 12:15 p.m. from St. Francis Catholic Church, Highway 28 East, Livingston, AL 35470, with Father Larry Shinnick officiating, where she was a member for many years. Viewing will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at the church. She will be buried in York Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Francis Catholic Church.
