Mark J McFry

MARK J. McFRY, 78, of Piedmont, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2023 at RMC-Stringfellow surrounded by his family.  He was one of twelve children born in Calhoun County to Frank J. and Flora Maddox McFry.

From the age of 12, he began hard, manual labor working 14 years at the brickyard and 28 years at Springs. He was a God-fearing man and the best witness for God, sometimes annoying folks but he did not want them to miss Heaven. He was a loving husband and father and had a fabulous sense of humor. He prayed for a daughter so he could spoil her – and he did. He was a member of Pleasant Arbor Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 siblings; and daughter-in-law, Beth McFry.

He is survived by his loving wife: Doris Kelley McFry; two sons: Perry (Brooke) McFry and Michael McFry; daughter: Cindy (Joseph) Smith; sister: Tivis McFry Bragg; two grandsons: Alex and Adam McFry; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Services will be Thursday, September 28, 2023 at 1 PM from Dansby Heritage Chapel with Rev. Shad Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 12- 1 PM and burial will be in Gnatville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Billy McFry, Joseph Smith, Billy Reynolds, Henry Reynolds, Mark Burnette and Richard Williams.
