Mary Helen Freeman, 86, of Piedmont, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at her residence. Born in Piedmont to Thomas and Onnie Agnes Hart Waits, she worked at the cotton mill, married and moved to Maryland. She raised 5 children and moved to Sebastian, FL to live and work. After retirement in 1985, she returned to Piedmont. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Charles B. Freeman; son: Charles A. Freeman; brothers: Jack Waits and Thomas Waits; sisters: Lucille Kirk and Ida Buttry. She is survived by son: Daniel (Carolyn) Freeman; daughters: Theda (Jim) Furtado, Donna (Dennis) Stitz and Crystal (James) Bernot; sisters: Polly Brown and Norma Brown; 15 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandchild. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, May 21 at 3:00 p.m. from Dansby Heritage Chapel with Rev. Sam Roe officiating. Visitation will be from 2 – 3 p.m. with burial in Highland Cemetery.
