MELISSA GAIL ACKER, 63, a longtime resident of Childersburg, passed away on January 6, 2024 at Talladega Health and Rehab. She was born in Piedmont to James Norton and Doris Fannin Acker.

"Missy"  was a 1978 graduate of Piedmont High School, member of Goshen Methodist Church, earned  a degree in Elementary Education from Auburn University, then a secondary degree in Information Systems from UAB. She worked at Lee County Educational System and then, Jack Henry Associates as information specialist.

She was preceded in death by her father:  James Norton Acker; grandparents:  Claude and Bonnie Acker, James Draper and Mollie Bussey Fannin.

She is survived by her mother: Doris Fannin Acker; son: James E. Morgan; three aunts; several cousins and many friends.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. from Highland Cemetery with Rev. Michael Dunbar officiating.
