Myrtice Bedwell Rainey

MYRTICE MARIE RAINEY, 90, of Piedmont, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Piedmont HealthCare Center. Born in Cherokee County, AL to Oleus and Claudie Nicholson Bedwell, she was retired from SCT Cotton Mill. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband: George Norman Smith; her second husband: Raymond Rainey; daughter: Kathy Ross; and siblings: AJ Bedwell, Doyal Bedwell, Travis Bedwell, Grace Ray, Myrtle Stone, Ann Burgess, and Alline Rochester.

She is survived by her grandchildren: Denina (Brian) Studdard and DeWayne Lane; great grandchildren: Michael T. Studdard, Dakota (Kari) McGatha,  Dwyatt (Sheyenne) Studdard, Jeorganna (Haven) Studdard, Robert E. Lee Lane, and Gary Shay Dobbs; great, great grandchildren: Harper Olivia McGatha, Lincoln Studdard, Charles Studdard, and Phoenix Studdard; brother: Hugh Bedwell; brother in law: James Burgess; and sister: Elaine Ingram; many nieces and nephews, but a special niece, Sandy Mobley and special great niece, Robyn McDuffie. 

She was a member of Piedmont Church of the Nazarene and loved her special fur baby, Ninja. She was a hard-working woman, sometimes bossy, but always loving to her family and grandkids. She loved all children whether they were hers or someone else’s.

A special thanks goes to Piedmont HealthCare Center for the care and devotion shown to her while there. Also special thanks to Sandy Mobley and Onda Garrett for their love and care.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM from Piedmont Church of the Nazarene with Brian McWilliams and David Ingram officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 PM until funeral time. As per her request, she will be cremated following the services.
