Reta Louise Young

Reta Louise Grissom Young, 68, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 16^th, 2022 at her home with her loving husband Lee beside her.  Funeral Services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, December 18^th, 2022 at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Brothers Bob Staggs and Gerald Stewart presiding.  Burial will follow afterwards in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be:  Ronald Thompson, Scotty Grimes, Brian Reedy, Chris Young, Randall Whorton, Dallas Whorton and Gary White.

Reta was preceded in death by her parents William Durell and Lillian Grissom.

Reta was born and raised in the Piedmont area to William Durell and Lillian Whorton Grissom.  She was  a seamstress who showed off her skills at Piedmont Executive. Mrs. Young was an avid gardener who had a green thumb.  Her plants were a passion of hers and she enjoyed gardening.  She loved her two precious cats and enjoyed spending time with them outside. 

She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, where she was a fixture behind the piano for close to 40 years.  She started playing the piano at a very young age and she fell in love with playing God’s music for her church family.

Mrs. Young is survived by the love of her life Lee; her devoted son Wayland (Stephanie); her two sisters Barbara Lyle and Dolores Donaldson and two nephews Scotty Grimes and Chad Donaldson.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm on Sunday until the start of the service.
