TOMMIE JEWELL HEARD, 83, of Piedmont, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2025. The Calhoun County Native was one of eight children born to Thomas and Elizabeth Pauline Wallace Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Claude William Heard; sons: Barry Fortenberry and Jamie Heard; daughters: Pamela Perez, Judy Renae Heard, and Linda Fortenberry; and brother, Larry Wallace.

She was employed as a spinner for SCT Cotton Mill for 50 + years. She loved her kids, grandkids, gardening, canning, crocheting, and painting. She was one who loved life and nature. Over the years, she never once waivered in her love of and faith in God.

She is survived by her children: Cheryl Minton, Mitchell (Greta) Fortenberry, Paula Thompson, and Kelly Heard (Barry ) Perry; siblings: Sara Beatrice Poole, Katherine Woodruff, Thomas Jefferson Smith, Vivian Marie McGatha, Deborah Ann Ray, and Donald Ray Wallace; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 2,2024 at 3:00 p.m. from Dansby Heritage Chapel with Daniel McGatha officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Piedmont Memory Garden. Pallbearers will be Joe Paul Brown, Austin Brazier, Stanley Heard, Jonathan Anderson, Jimmy Perez, and Charlie Turner.
