Tonya Abernathy

TONYA ROMINE ABERNATHY, 45, passed from this life on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Gadsden Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.  Born in Piedmont, to Ricky Lynn Romine (who preceded her in death)  and Wanda Watts Romine Turner, she worked at the Circle K for 13 years before becoming disabled.                                                                                                                                                                                     She was a member of Plainview Congregational Holiness Church, a “die hard” Auburn fan, and had been the lead singer in The Turner Family gospel singing group. She was a loving and treasured friend to many.                                                                                                                                            She is survived by her mother: Wanda Turner; brother: Toby Romine; uncle and aunt: Greg “Uncle Guns” and Jackie Watts; great aunt: Helen Godby; great cousin: Sharon Headrick; best friend: Tammy Horn Gossett; aunt: April  Vanhorne (Andy); cousins: Matthew Abernathy and Ryan Landrum (Anthony); sister in law: Lori Tipton; and nephew: Anthony Tipton.                                                                                                                               Funeral Service will be held Sunday, December 19, 2021 at 3:30 PM from Plainview Congregational Holiness Church, Possum Trot Road, Piedmont, AL 36272 with Rev. Gregg Thurman and Rev. Paul Smith officiating.  Debbie Bryan will deliver the eulogy.  Visitation will be at the church from 2:00 – 3:30 PM.  Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plainview Congregational Holiness Church or Dansby Heritage Chapel.
