William C. "COOTER" Hightower

WILLIAM CLINTON “COOTER” HIGHTOWER, 85, of Piedmont, passed away on Friday, May 5, 2023 at his home surrounded by his family.  He was born in Cleburne County in the Oak Level Community to Henry Grady and Maudie Vesti Mullins Hightower.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son: Chris Hightower; and brother: Grady Kenneth Hightower. He was a supervisor at the SCT Cotton Mill until his retirement. He was the owner of Coots Auto Sales and  Co-Owner of Southern Auto and attended Piedmont First Baptist Church. In his “spare time” he did contract landscaping and small concrete repairs.  He also loved wood working in his shop and building birdhouses, which were his favorite, and  selling them at craft shows that he attended regularly.

He is survived by his wife: Janice Bailey Hightower; son: Michael (Carrie) Hightower; daughter: Gayla (Tommy) Allison; sister: Doris Parker; grandchildren: Coltin (Maci) Allison, Brittany (Brad) Brewer, Drew (Sheri) Allison, Caitlin (Darian) Myricks and Mackenzie (Jamal) Anderson; great grandchildren: Kennedy Allison, Piper Allison, Elana Allison, Charlie Allison, Noah Allison, Emilia Myricks and Emmett Hightower; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be Monday, May 8, 2023 at 1:00 pm from Highland Cemetery with Rev. Michael Ingram and Chaplain Dale Hollingsworth officiating.  Visitation will be at Dansby Heritage Chapel from 11:00 am until 12:45 pm.  In the event of rain, the service will be held in the Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Greg Hightower, Michael Hightower, Bo Parker, Steve Hightower, Willie Keller and Dewayne Hall.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Charles Chandler, Sparks Harper, Roland Roberson, Mikey Carroll, and Drew Allison.
