The caring and experienced professionals at Dansby Heritage Chapel are here to support you through this difficult time.
Jerry Steven Dansby started his career in Eufaula, AL (his hometown) working in Eufaula, Clayton, and then Hartford, which brought him to the Birmingham area. There he met and married Lynette. He completed his apprenticeship in embalming and funeral directing. He became a Licensed Funeral Director in 2008. Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing the guitar and being around people. Unfortunately, Jerry passed away in October 2021, but is still a big part of Dansby Heritage Chapel.
Jerry had two children, Jeff and Jennifer Dansby; and his granddaughter: Audumn Kristeen Dansby. Unfortunately, Jeff passed away four years before his dad.
Lynette started her career in York, AL where she served the families of Sumter County, for 23 years. She then moved to the Birmingham area and met and married Jerry. She is a Certified Funeral Service Practitioner (CFSP) promoting continuing education for funeral service providers. She is also a licensed insurance agent, a notary public, and a Certified Thanatologist. Her background training is in management and counseling. Lynette enjoys playing the piano, reading, and playing with her fur baby, Sambo.
Her son is Chanin Barker, wife, Mandy, of Shreveport, LA and granddaughter, McKenzie Grace Barker. Chanin is also a licensed funeral director/embalmer and Jennifer Dansby continues to be “Lynette’s daughter”.
Lynette continues to fulfill her and Jerry’s dream and continues to serve the people in the Piedmont area.
Dansby Heritage Chapel congratulates Jesus “Chewy” Hernandez as he becomes the newest dual licensed person on staff.
Chewy's journey into funeral services began when his hard work was noticed, leading to an internship three years ago. Since then, he has become certified in Funeral Service Sciences, Funeral Service Arts, and Funeral Service Education. He also holds an associate's degree in Applied Sciences, reflecting his commitment to continual growth in his profession. Chewy has been a valued member of the Dansby Heritage Chapel team since August 2022.
A graduate of Cleburne County High School, Chewy remains actively involved in his church, where he plays a vital role in assisting with the construction of a new building. Outside of work, Chewy enjoys international travel, long drives, and making connections with people. His friendly demeanor often leads to conversations with strangers who feel like they've known him for years.
Stop by to meet and congratulate Chewy.
